I wish I had driven roads like this, and could now.

I don't think you have driven on roads like this dearest Angel, they are full of car breaking pot holes, you may have driven in places like this. On my recent visit i saw new roads being re-laid and all the potholes covered. They will appear again after the rains because the quality of material used is so poor.

I do love my drive to work and back. But this road in your photos is much more romantic. The darkness, rain, heavy trees - more so than the open fields to me. This puts me into a mood to be on a train with a good book, but maybe I wouldn't stop staring out the window.

definitely adventurous, if not romantic.. :)).

i guess it was raining.. these pics are so soothing to look at.

    reminds me that poem..

'...the woods are dark and deep.."

    OK
    you are right dear Raufie
    no potholes.

There is a road, Hwy 16/Tete Jeune Hwy, that start almost at the centre of Canada in Winnipeg, MAnitoba, and stretches out north and west to The Pacific Coast ending in Prince Rupert, British Columbia (on a clear day from Mt. ? you can see Alaska. Seen Alaska!

This Hwy goes through the Rockies Mount Robson Park - breathtaking driving through clouds on rainy days...

At one point past Hazelton, BC, the road narrowd down to a two lane - no shoulder (no potholes) passage to paradise, as there is nothing on that road but you and overgrown nature for 300km!
The last time I drove it - you could not see any logging, which I am sure is no longer the case.

These pics reminded me of the extraordinary feelings brought on by the solitude and the "total immersion" in of nature for such long streches of road.
(THere is nothing on the road -no WC, no gas station, not one shack - n-o-t-h-i-n-g - just PARADISE)

It is ONLY I times like this that I envy anyone.

    Big Hug

Ruth, The road is improved now, as a result it has more traffic on it and it has become noisy. There is a road passing through Kabini forest (Karnataka State) and it is a short cut to Manandavady in Kerala from Mysore. The condition was getting worse with every rainy season. i was wondering why the surrounding roads are in good condition and this particular road is left in bad condition. Later i was told that the forest department don't want any traffic on this road.

    DearestAngel, This is India.
i always say freedom without responsibility is a curse. And same thing applies to Speed, Speed without responsibility is a disaster. Give them a good road and they drive like maniacs here, without any respect for the trees, animals and the serene atmosphere.
Newly laid silent valley road has become noisy and polluted, traffic has increased. Silent valley is no longer silent now.

That is the big irony of our times - reaching secluded spots - by the millios!
